Text version
This infographic presents a picture of a prototype of the first Canadian rover on an artistic representation of the Moon, along with a series of facts on the mission.
A Canadian rover will explore the Moon to test technologies, advance our knowledge of the lunar environment, and help in the international search for water ice.
Objectives:
- evaluate new technologies
- improve our understanding of the lunar geology
- assess radiation levels
- determine the amount of hydrogen in the lunar soil, an indicator of water ice
- measure surface temperature to better understand lunar
- environment and water ice stability conditions
On the Moon, water is essential to:
- drink
- grow food
- produce oxygen
- make the fuel that will propel rockets for further exploration
Collaborators:
- Built by Canadensys
- Launch provided by NASA
- Supported by a science team of nearly 30 scientists from 16 institutions in Canada, United States and United Kingdom
