Banff National Park, Alberta

Credit: TRE ALTAMIRA. Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 data, processed by ESA

This montage features several glacial lakes at Banff National Park in Alberta's Canadian Rockies, including the iconic Lake Louise (bottom left corner). TRE ALTAMIRA's Geidy Baldeon, Sato Oi, Jacopo Allievi and Giacomo Falorni were inspired to use both optical (true colour) and radar (black and white) images to portray the raw beauty of an emblematic Canadian landmark. The images were carefully chosen during a year that marked all of humanity: the optical image was captured on , by the Sentinel-2 satellite, while the radar image is a combination of multiple images captured during the summer of by the Sentinel-1 satellite. Both satellites are operated by the European Space Agency.
