Dive into Tomatosphere Adventure!

Tomatosphere Adventure is a Minecraft Education game that introduces young people to extraterrestrial agriculture. They will explore different laboratories to learn how photosynthesis works and then tackle the mission of growing tomatoes on Mars.

Over the course of their journey, players will have the chance to meet Canadian Space Agency astronauts Joshua Kutryk and Jenni Gibbons, who are non-playing characters in the game. (Credits: Canadian Space Agency, NASA, Logics Academy, Minecraft Education)

Joshua Kutryk: Hello everyone! I’m Joshua Kutryk, an astronaut with the Canadian Space Agency!

Believe it or not: I’m also a character in the Tomatosphere Adventure.

I’m lucky to be part of the Minecraft Education world!

Here, students will explore three laboratories to discover the different parts of the plant cell as well as how photosynthesis works.

The mission is to successfully grow tomatoes on another planet!

After completing all of the objectives on Earth, players will fly to Mars for a final mission.

And that’s where they’ll have the chance to meet my colleague Jenni!

Jenni Gibbons: Hi! It’s me, Jenni Gibbons, Canadian Space Agency astronaut.

And this is my avatar!

I can’t wait to meet the students before they fly to Mars!

They’ll need to use resources on Mars to build a greenhouse!

For example, they’ll need to transform Martian sand into glass.

I’m excited to see tomatoes growing in the greenhouses your students create!

It won’t be easy, but I’m positive that your students will be able to do it!
