While you’re relaxing outside on a sunny day scientists are turning to satellite data to monitor the state of the ozone layer, essential for protecting life on Earth from UV rays.

In order to hunt and fish safely, Indigenous community members use satellite maps so that they know the thickness of the ice.

To allow you to admire the plants and animals experts use satellite data to assess the health of ecosystems and protect biodiversity.

If your neighbourhood is on the verge of being flooded emergency management services will rely on satellite data to monitor the situation and plan evacuations, if necessary.
