The Juno rover, training to recover samples on the surface of other worlds.

Juno is an early version of a rover that could one day be sent to the Moon or Mars.

It can detect and locate objects in real time. It can navigate autonomously or…

…be operated remotely by a pilot.

Juno was built to tackle off-road obstacles, like small boulders.

It is equipped with a robotic arm and tools to scout out rock and soil samples.

It can operate day or night.

Juno carries a canister that can store multiple rock and soil samples…

…and return them to a lander…

…or a home base for scientists to study.

These tests on Earth help prepare for missions to more distant destinations.

Ready, rover?

Next stop: Moon? Or Mars?
