David Saint-Jacques: Hi there!

I’m David Saint-Jacques, Canadian Space Agency astronaut. I’m getting ready to fly to the International Space Station, where I’ll live and work for just over six months!

While I’m in space, I’ll make time for something I love: reading! As a teenager, I became an avid reader. I would devour books on just about any topic. Books capture our imagination and get us to explore!

They taught me that culture, like science, can help us better understand humanity.

This year, the Canadian Space Agency is collaborating with the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada for a special edition of Science Literacy Week.

If reading transports you to another world, like it does for me, take part in this week-long celebration of science and space from September 17th to 23rd. Hundreds of events and activities will be offered across Canada and online.

And remember: you can discover a whole new universe by simply picking up a book!
