The five senses in space: taste
2013-05-08 - In space, fluid distribution to the head can cause congestion, dulling the sense of taste. CSA Astronaut Chris Hadfield shows us his personal favourite food that has a little extra kick to stir the taste buds. (Credits: Canadian Space Agency, NASA)

Chris Hadfield: Eating in space is like eating with a head cold. You just can't taste very much. So because of this, a lot of our food taste kind of blend. That's why we like especially spicy food here. Stuff that you might not normally eat on Earth, like shrimp cocktail with horseradish sauce. It's probably my all-time favorite 'cause it has a real bite and actually decongests your sinus a little bit.
