Russian Space Station Mir

The Russian space station Mir provided long-duration living and working quarters for an international crew. Its oldest components were in orbit for 12 years, but it was constantly being renewed, updated and resupplied to keep it in good condition. It was de-orbited in 2001. (Credit: NASA)
