The Canadarm Deploys the Gamma-Ray Observatory

April 1991 - The Canadarm deploys the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory (GRO) from Space Shuttle Atlantis during Mission STS-37. Commissioned until June 2000, GRO detected gamma-rays emitted from black holes, pulsars, quasars, neutron stars and other celestial phenomena. (Credit: NASA)
