CSA astronaut Jeremy Hansen learns about Magellan's MAPLE

Jeremy and another man wear lab coats and protective gear with metal pieces on a table in front of them.

Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen learns about the Multipurpose Autonomous Penetrator for Lunar Exploration (MAPLE) an innovative probe to conduct low-cost localized science and resource exploration activities on the lunar surface. MAPLE could help explore and reveal the contents of deep lunar craters that would be challenging for rovers (or humans!) to descend into.

The visit of Magellan Aerospace facilities took place during a two-week tour of events that took him to Ottawa, Winnipeg and Montreal.  (Credit: Canadian Space Agency)
