In April 2024, the United States Air Force conducted a Rescue Force Qualification Course. The participants included members of the Royal Canadian Air Force Search and Rescue (SAR) community. During this course, CSA astronauts Joshua Kutryk and Jenni Gibbons observed a simulation of a recovery at sea. The primary responsibility of the rescue team is to quickly and safely recover the crew in the unlikely event of an emergency occurring during the spacecraft's ascent, free flight, or landing.
