Fauve Strachan - Project Management Engineer

Fauve Strachan

What is unique about your job?
Project management engineering is unique because we get to wear many hats, work closely with others, and work on a variety of projects.

Which professional accomplishment are you the most proud of?
I'm very proud of having had the courage to quit a great job to pursue other interests and opportunities.

Who or what helped you the most throughout your career?
I am often very hard on myself. I am very fortunate to have a very supportive family and mentors who have, and continue to, believe in me. This has helped me be more confident in my own abilities.

What advice would you offer to girls or women?
Don't be afraid to see where your curiosity will take you. Sometimes you don't know what you're looking for until you've found it.

How do / did you reconcile work commitments and your family life?
For me, the key to finding the right balance has been to clearly establish boundaries. Most importantly, this involves leaving my work in the office, but also, it means keeping routine in my personal calendar. This helps to eliminate the search for time and the struggle to juggle priorities. Also, although I live a relatively fast-paced life, I've learned to allow for ample downtime and to leave enough wiggle room throughout my days for the fun and unexpected surprises that life throws my way!
