Artemis I launch

Overview

Summary

The Artemis program is a new generation of lunar exploration missions designed to send humans farther into space than ever before.

Artemis I is an uncrewed test flight of the Orion spacecraft, set to launch on the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket.

During this flight, Orion will venture thousands of kilometres beyond the Moon. Orion's systems will then be monitored to ensure a safe Crew Module re-entry, splashdown, and recovery.

In , a CSA astronaut will be part of Artemis II, the first crewed mission to the Moon since . Artemis II will be the first-ever crewed test flight of the Orion spacecraft.
