Chris Hadfield: Hi. Chris Hadfield on board the International Space Station and I noticed recently that my fingernails are getting a little long. For playing guitar I want short fingernails. It's time to cut your fingernails in zero G. How do you do it?

First, fingernail clippers... I went and got some outof the bathroom. Of course they're normal but they have Velcro on them so that you can put them on yourpocket. Now if I just cut my fingernails here, fingernail bits are going to fly everywhere. They won't fall to the ground. You can't sweep them up. They're going to float everywhere, get in your eyes, people will breathe them, not good. I've got to figure out a plan.

What we've decided to do up here is go to an air duct where the air is pulled in. Here's agood one here and I'm going to set myself up, cut my nails right here over the top so that my fingernails will all get pulled down into the vent and not float away. It's time to cut my nails. I've got myself braced so I'm not going to float away.

That one got away.

Perfect, yes. So there we go. Nails all ready for guitar playing. When I vacuum this later in the week it will all clean up just fine. How you cut your nails without gravity.
