Minister's message

The Honourable Navdeep Bains

On behalf of Canadian Space Agency, I am pleased to present our report on fees for fiscal year  to , my organization's second annual report under the Service Fees Act.

The act provides a modern legislative framework that enables cost-effective delivery of services and, through better reporting to Parliament, improves transparency and oversight.

The CSA reports to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry. Its mandate, as defined in the Canadian Space Agency Act, is "to promote the peaceful use and development of space, to advance the knowledge of space through science and to ensure that Canadians benefit from space science and technology in both social and economic terms."

To fulfill its mandate, the CSA provides certain services for fees set by contract.

I welcome the increased transparency and oversight provided by the reporting regime of the Service Fees Act. I will continue to lead my department's transition to this modern framework.

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, P.C., M.P.
Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry
